“Censor this … too late”series
The work in this series represents a long fascination with censorship of visual material. The images are a combination of 19th Century portraits of men and women with contemporary “pornographic” images. They are visually interwoven to create beauty out of images made almost two hundred years apart and for totally disparate reasons, yet when combined they become beautiful visual nuggets. The sexually related content is “censored” by the portraits of dead people before they can censored by living beings …. therefore the title “censor this….too late”.
