Black and White Wall Pieces

The universal mechanisms of psychological and physical mistreatment visualized in this work are used to uncover hidden manifestations of abuse so prevalent in intimate familiar (family) interactions. These often glossed over and ignored issues are visually peeled open like an old wound. The contrasting veneers of behavior are used to illustrate both the public and private occurrence of these disturbing patterns of behavior. The use of black and white 40’s and 50’s media images and red bars with white text make reference to enumerable and historically significant, “Life” magazine covers.
